The NSW DPIRD Farms of the Future Agtech Training Program is an initiative designed to equip farmers with the necessary skills and knowledge to thrive in the rapidly evolving agricultural landscape. This program is a response to the growing need for farmers to adopt innovative agricultural technologies to increase productivity, sustainability, and profitability.

The training program focuses on the process of developing a farm business Monitoring Plan including a farm map, identification of pain points and addressing connectivity and Agtech device needs. Monitoring Plans act as a tool to assist farmers in finding farm connectivity and Agtech device solutions.

The course aims to develop knowledge and skills in:

  • Farm planning with Agtech
  • Identifying available Agtech solutions
  • Understanding connectivity needs
  • The benefits of monitoring a farm with Agtech

One of the key advantages of the Farms of the Future Agtech training program is its accessibility. The program consists of both online modules and in-person workshops, allowing participants to learn at their own pace and convenience while also benefiting from direct interaction with expert instructors and fellow farmers. The online training is freely available to anyone, while the face-to-face training works will be available to primary producers in NSW.

In addition to technical training on specific agtech and connectivity solutions, the program also emphasises the importance of strategic planning, risk management, and maximising return on investment when adopting new technologies. Farmers will learn how to assess their individual farm operations, identify opportunities for improvement and innovation, and develop customised agtech solutions to address their unique needs and challenges.

Overall, the NSW DPIRD Farms of the Future Agtech training program is a valuable resource for farmers looking to future-proof their operations and stay ahead in today’s dynamic agricultural industry. By empowering farmers with the knowledge and skills to harness the full potential of agricultural technology, this program is not just about keeping up with the times but about leading the way towards a more sustainable, efficient, and productive future for farming in New South Wales.
