Jim Salfer
Jim is a Regional Extension Educator with University of Minnesota Extension. He has degrees from South Dakota State University and the University of Minnesota.
Area of expertise: Extension, education, on-farm research. In the past he has also managed a dairy farm and worked as a nutritionist.
Experience: Jim and colleagues have led several on-farm research projects on over 140 farms in Minnesota and Wisconsin with milking robots understand management factors affect farm profitability and performance.
Current project(s): Development of education programs focused on precision technology and farm profitability. He also does on farm consulting and troubleshooting.
Why join the AMS CoP? I have great interest in helping dairy farmers and their advisers improve the success of these systems. I believe there more research that needs to be completed and also dissemination of current information to improve these systems success. I think my relationship with current AMS users could contribute to these goals.
