In the Loddon Campaspe Irrigation Region (LCIR), Whole Farm Plan incentives are delivered under the North Central Catchment Management Authority’s LCIR Land and Water Management Plan (L&WMP). The LCIR includes the towns and surrounding districts of Swan Hill, Kerang, Boort, Pyramid Hill, Cohuna, Leitchville, Gunbower, Echuca, Rochester, Koondrook and Lockington.
Key issues addressed in the L&WMP are soil salinity, agricultural productivity, environmental protection and social well-being. The plan also identifies options to manage changes resulting from rapid water market reform. Whole Farm Planning is an example of a Catchment activity where a cost share incentive is used.
Preparing a Whole Farm Plan (WFP) ensures that money invested in irrigation and property development is well spent, and that farm works do not interfere with regional drainage, environmental and cultural features or floodplain water flow.
A Whole Farm Plan can also be of assistance in considering backbone connection options if you are part of the Goulburn Murray Water (GMW) Connections program
Incentives are available for assistance towards the cost of the topographical survey and design components of a WFP for broadacre and irrigation farms.
Areas within the GMID channel system or in modernisation areas
The level of assistance is up to 85% of the cost with a maximum rate of reimbursement of:
Topographical survey – $51.10 per hectare
Design – $58.75 per hectare
Areas outside of the GMID channel system within the GMW service area (ie. private groundwater and river diverters)
The level of assistance is up to 50% of the cost with a maximum rate of reimbursement of:
Topographical survey – $30.00 per hectare
Design – $34.55 per hectare
An Agriculture Victoria Project Officer will work with you to complete your WFP, claim the incentive and provide extension services around irrigation systems and technologies, water markets, and environmental and soil salinity issues.
