What do people learn at a bootcamp?

Targeted at young farmers, or those new to managing a farm business, participants can expect to improve their understanding of profit and loss, cash flow budgeting, balance sheets, gross margins, planning for and managing risks, as well as financial planning and analysis.

When is the bootcamp?

Wednesday 12 and Wednesday 19 February – 9.00am until 4.00pm, plus an optional two-hour follow up session on Thursday 20 February.

Where is the bootcamp?

Agriculture Victoria’s Kerang office which is located at 26 – 28 Wellington Street, Kerang.

Who is delivering the Young Farmer Business Bootcamp?

The bootcamp will be delivered by Agriculture Victoria Farm Business Economist Tristan Wardley and all course materials will be provided. Please view Tristan’s Meet the Expert Profile on the extensionAUS™ Young Farmer Business Network.

Do I have to bring anything?

Morning tea and lunch will be provided with tea and coffee available throughout the day. You will be provided with a hard copy of the manual and a USB with the templates included for you to work on after the session.

Do I need to bring a laptop/tablet?

No. You can bring a laptop/tablet/device if you wish but it isn’t required, the majority of past bootcamp participants haven’t used one in the course.

Do I have to do pre-bootcamp work/preparation?

There is no pre-course work to complete as a part of the bootcamp. We give you the tools during bootcamp to take home and apply to your own business.

Do I need to share/provide my personal financial information?

There is no requirement to bring your personal financial records. We will work through relevant case study examples in the course and there will be lots of opportunity for questions and discussion.

Can I bring my baby?

Yes, babies are welcome and have attended bootcamps in the past.

Toddlers/children are welcome to attend but they will need to be supervised at all times.

Please discuss any requirements you may have with our Young Farmer Coordinator, Sarah Wallis.

I don’t fit into the ‘young farmer’ category, can I still attend a Young Farmer Business Bootcamp?

Yes you can. The bootcamp is targeted at young farmers or those new to managing a farm business. There is no age limit as the bootcamp focuses on level of experience.

Do I have to pay?

No, there is no charge for the Young Farmer Business Bootcamp.

How do I register?

What happens if I can only attend one day?

It is preferable that you attend both days. You can talk to Sarah Wallis about options if you really cannot attend both days.

Will you be running other bootcamps?
