Salmonella Enteritidis (SE) Seasonal Testing Submission Forms

The start of a new climatic season is an ideal time to undertake Salmonella Enteritidis (SE) environmental sampling as required by the NSW Food Authority.

SE environmental sampling requirements for NSW egg producers

This requires licenced NSW egg producers to:

  • sample every shed and poultry housing area every 12-15 weeks
  • collect samples as required by Appendix 6 of the Food Safety Schemes Manual
  • send samples to a laboratory accredited for Salmonella spp. testing
  • keep test results for auditing purposes.

Approved laboratories and sample submission forms

In NSW, there is currently two approved laboratories who both have Sample Submission forms available:

Producers can submit their samples to either approved laboratory.

Testing costs and postage

Testing for Salmonella Enteritidis is conducted free of charge. However, postage and delivery costs for sending samples to the laboratory remain the responsibility of the farm business.

Learn more about SE compliance

For more information check How to comply with Schedule 8 – control of Salmonella Enteritidis on the NSW Food Authority website.

Adopting seasonal sampling helps with regulatory compliance and on-farm biosecurity.
