Dam D solar and battery system for pumping water

At Ellinbank, an added water source for the farm is water pumped from a dam called ‘Dam D’. A solar energy system was installed in December 2021 to provide electricity for the pumping station at Dam D. Water pumped from Dam D is used for stock water and dairy wash.

The solar energy system is made up of 24 panels x 415 Watts each, to provide close to 10kW of energy.

A zinc-bromine battery was selected for energy storage, as a different type of battery to trial.
