Did you know there’s critical services available to support your poultry farm for free?

Getting help if you suspect an emergency animal disease or observe unusual clinical is a simple process.

A call to the Emergency Animal Disease (EAD) Hotline – 1800 675 888 – will be answered by knowledgeable, expert staff will respond to your report. They will advise you on what action you need to take.

Even a suspicion of disease or observation of unusual clinical signs in your poultry should be reported. Early reporting increases the chance of effective control and eradication.

Anyone can call the EAD Hotline and calls are automatically diverted to the number for your location – the number is monitored 24/7.

They may ask you for more information about the detection, such as

  • name and contact details for the property, owner or farm manager
  • location of animals (address point, GPS, etc.)
  • clinical signs – what symptoms do the animals have?
  • number of animals affected and the total number of animals on the property
  • history of the animals, for example, recent travel, vaccinations, treatments

It is critical that you:

  • LOOK: Know what these diseases look like and keep an eye out for the signs
  • CHECK: Check your animals regularly
  • ASK A VET: Call the EAD Hotline 1800 675 888 to report your observations and get further advice
