About

This network, hosted by extensionAUSTM, forms part of a wider Australian Government project to establish a program of plant pest surveillance in Australian botanic gardens and arboreta. The project is funded by the Australian Government’s Agricultural Competitiveness White Paper, the government’s plan for stronger farmers and a stronger economy. Plant Health Australia Ltd coordinates and operates the learning network for the Australian Government with support from expert collaborators.

The Botanic Gardens Biosecurity Network provides practical information and advice to staff of botanic gardens, community interest groups and members of the public to develop awareness, knowledge and skills to contribute to general biosecurity surveillance activities. Through building this capacity the network aims to contribute to Australia’s national plant health surveillance system and to post-border, plant pest preparedness, early detection and response capability.
