Botanic gardens are increasingly being recognised as the frontline in tackling the biggest challenges facing our future – food security, pest and disease eradication, and adaptation to a changing climate.
To highlight this work, botanic gardens from Australia and New Zealand are hosting their fifth Botanic Gardens Day celebration on Sunday 31 May.
This year, BGANZ will be hosting a Botanic Gardens Day Panel Discussion to mark the event.
Join BGANZ and their ambassador and panel host Costa Georgiadis, landscape architect, educator & TV host as they discuss many and varied topics, from our dwindling biodiversity and Australian bushfire recovery to COVID-19 with panelists:
- Prof Lesley Hughes, Climate Scientist & Distinguished Professor, Macquarie University
- Prof Tim Entwisle, Director & Chief Executive, Royal Botanic Gardens Victoria
- Dr Lucy Sutherland, Director, Botanic Gardens of South Australia
- Julia Watson, Education & Partnerships, Auckland Botanic Gardens
- Donna Jackson, Coordinator Mackay Regional Botanic Gardens, Far North Queensland
The Botanic Gardens Day Panel Discussion will be held on Sunday 31 May at 11:45am AEST and will be live streamed on:
