How long should probes be in dryland crop monitoring paddocks?

Given our experience we would say a 1.2 metre probe positioned with the top sensor at 20 cm and deepest at 1.4 metres is best suited to dryland cropping paddocks. Therefore the sensors will be at 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 90, 110, 130 and 140.
Longer probes do pose more challenges to get in the ground.
But, make sure that the depth of 20cm won’t get hit by tynes.
