What will you do to make life fairer for women on International Women’s Day? International Women’s Day, held annually on March 8, is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. It also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity.
Women often miss out on leadership and decision-making roles in communities and workplaces. This is particularly true for Indigenous women, women with a disability and those from culturally diverse backgrounds.
Victoria’s Gender Equality Strategy, Safe and Strong, states that 25 per cent of ASX-listed companies have no women in senior management roles. The theme for this year’s International Women’s Day, ‘Balance for Better’, aims to address these statistics and reflect the growing expectation for a gender-balanced world.
Find out how you can take an active role in International Women’s Day by visiting the official website, organising your own event or activity and sharing the hashtag #BalanceforBetter to highlight the importance of equal opportunities.
