‘Lights, camera, action,’ — it’s time to snap up a great opportunity to celebrate International Day of Rural Women by taking part in the Victorian Rural Women’s Network’s photography competition. Here’s your chance to win a mobile phone flexi tripod and selfie stick!

International Day of Rural Women took place on Monday 15 October, 2018, and recognises the critical role of rural women, including indigenous women, in enhancing agricultural and rural development, improving food security and eradicating rural poverty.

Rural women make up more than a quarter of the world’s population. In Victoria, a third of the state’s farmers are women and many more are involved in agricultural businesses, research, innovation and technology.

The Victorian Rural Women’s Network’s photography competition aims to highlight the important contribution women make to their families, communities and workplaces in rural areas.

If you attended our Rural Women’s Forum in Creswick in August, consider using some of the photography tips suggested by Kylie Lewis, presenter of the social media workshop. Images should depict a woman or women relaxing, working, connecting or collaborating in rural or regional Victoria.
