What a few months it has been for rural women! Since the last edition of network, we have a winner of the 2019 Victorian AgriFuturesTM Rural Women’s Award and celebrated 21 outstanding Victorian women being inducted into the Victorian Honour Roll of Women. International Women’s Day was celebrated around the globe, the evokeAG conference, held in Melbourne, attracted technology experts and ideas from around the world.
In April, the Victorian Rural Women’s Network Reference Group welcomed Minister for Agriculture, the Hon. Jaclyn Symes to its first meeting of the year. Minister Symes is looking forward to working closely with the network to boost women’s leadership across the state. She sat with the group to hear about challenges in their communities and listened to ideas on how rural women can have their say and make a difference in their regions.
This edition of the quarterly e-newsletter takes a technology focus and celebrates the many regional women who are taking a lead in the tech space. Technology will improve efficiencies, connections, and productivity in many areas of our lives, including agriculture. Read on to meet rural women who are achieving in tech and actively supporting others, including young girls, to do the same.
In the months ahead, the network will harness technology to create more opportunities and activities for subscribers. We’re refreshing our website to include an events calendar to keep you up-to-date and there will be another round of funded places on offer soon for the 2020 Victorian Rural Women’s Leadership and Mentoring Program plus social media campaigns and more inspiring stories from our readers. Keep an eye on our Facebook and Twitter feeds for more updates.
Cheers from Jasmine Glover, Rural Women’s Coordinator, on behalf of the Victorian Rural Women’s Network team.
