Call for Expressions of Interest
Prawn Trawl Think Tank
First launched 2024, the Prawn Trawl Think Tank (Think Tank) is an initiative of the Australian Council of Prawn Fisheries (ACPF) Environment Program. Its role is to provide technical advice (gear, benthic impact and fuel efficiency) with the aim of reducing trawl impacts. The scope includes both incremental improvements on current methods and novel disruptive methods to future proof prawn trawling for the benefit of the wild catch prawn industry. There will be one face to face meeting and another shorter online meeting in the year.
The ACPF is again calling for Expressions of Interest from;
- industry representatives with experience in trawl gear and efficiency which may include specialist consultants and netmakers
- researchers with experience across gear modification, fisheries management and environmental protection regulation
“To date have had great interest from northern (tropical) and eastern (subtropical) prawn fishers, we would really love to have input from southern (temperate) or western (subtropical) industry representatives, noting that these positions receive a sitting fee and travel costs reimbursed” ~ EO Rachel King
