Agriculture Victoria’s recent irrigation webinar series saw over 1000 participants tune in to the online series in real time, with an additional 1500 views of the online recordings.
Twelve webinars focusing on key irrigation issues were rolled out earlier this year, drawing up to 190 participants each. The most popular topics included the southern Murray-Darling Basin water market, dealing with water price variability on-farm, and where water prices are heading in the long term.
Agriculture Victoria Irrigation Technical Specialist, Rob O’Connor said providing vital irrigation information in an accessible online format was key to keeping irrigators up to date and informed.
“We know irrigation has become increasingly complex in recent times and there has been a lot of changes in water policy, the water market, and with water supply variability,” Mr O’Connor said.
“The irrigation webinars and the recordings have been a convenient way for irrigators and others to keep on top of these changes.”
Other subjects covered in the online series include harnessing carryover and other water products, climate impacts on future water supplies, the Goulburn inter-valley trade limit, Murray shortfall risks, southern Basin water sharing arrangements, and irrigation AgTech.
