Job Title: Senior Officer – Plant Emergency Preparedness and Surveillance

Lana’s career has had a strong focus on emergency management within biosecurity. Lana leads a small technical team of forest biosecurity and surveillance experts. Lana is very interested in early emergency management continuous improvement which will enable Agriculture Victoria to respond efficiently and effectively to an increasing number of responses.

Lana’s current responsibilities include:

• Participation in national committees/groups for surveillance and emergency responses
• Prepare options and recommendations for CPHO relating to emergency and surveillance projects
• Leader in emergency responses
• Coordinating surveillance programs

Lana has studied Bachelor of Horticulture (Hons) and Bachelor of Science (Botany) at Melbourne University with a focus on mycology and taxonomy. Lana is a passionate collector of succulents and Hoyas and they are taking over the office. Lana likes plants with unusual features as they help to engage my toddler in gardening, insects and the environment.
